Summary:
The Accounting Generalist is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This position performs various accounting tasks including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and assisting with month-end/year-end close processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Perform general ledger maintenance including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and reviewing account balances
Supervise the Accounts Receivable process, specifically with collections
Mentor and lead a team of two accounting professionals
Provide guidance, training and support to ensure team members perform duties effectively
Assist with the coordination of the month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepare and distribute monthly and ad hoc financial reports to management
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Assist with internal and external audits
Provide support for special projects as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or related field
Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting roles, including general ledger, account receivable and accounts payable functions.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets and other accounting software
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Requirements
This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software, and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Additionally, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, is necessary for success in this role. A CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
