Overall, this is an opportunity for a "Financial Controller" to build on your career within an independently owned SME who have more than doubled their turnover to £7million in 2 years.
You’ll support the owners with their continued growth and their business goals. And of course, you will enjoy working alongside a friendly wider team, taking responsibility for training, mentoring and managing them to deliver the best Finance support. Additionally you will balance Management tasks with Transactional accounting tasks.
Who is my client?
An SME within the Security sector who provide a variety of Security Solutions to businesses across the UK. Currently they have c14 full time office based employees and a wider team of operational staff who are out in the field.
Who are you?
* Very likely, you will currently be or have experience as "Financial Controller" or "Head of Finance' or "Finance Manager" within a similar size business. It could be that you have worked in an Accounting Practice and are keen to use this experience within Industry.
* You’ll be a confident friendly communicator who is career oriented and skilled at managing, motivating and building a strong Accounts team – Snr Accounts Payable /Receivable, Credit Control, Accounts Team Leader, Accounts Admin.
* You’ll come with credentials that highlight the value you have added to a business, where you have introduced robust processes, procedures to future proof the business.
* You’ll enjoy collaborating with the Operations Manager and team to ensure that each division is supported - its a small business where EVERYONE is important.
* A Sage 50 expert, you’ll know how to get the best out of the system to support a growing business.
* It's a bright, modern open plan office that is full of life, incredibly busy and everyone makes the tea! This role would not suit someone who prefers a subdued environment.
Your day to day :
In addition to managing the team, you will also carry out tasks including (not limited to):
* Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
* Verify that all transactions are recorded in the correct day book, Suppliers Ledger, Customers Ledger, and General Ledger
* Provide accurate and timely Monthly Management Accounts
* Bring the books to Trial Balance stage
* Closely and continuously monitor the Debtors and Creditors Ledgers
* Perform partial checks of the posting process
* Ensure strict VAT compliance
* Complete tax forms
* Liaise with the Accountant and provide relevant information for year end
What do you need to succeed?
* You will be required to be full time office based which is expected to be 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday
* Experience in leading and developing the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
* Full or part qualified in a relevant subject / or qualified by experience. ACCA. AAT 4. CIMA.
