Location: Sutton, London

Contract: 6-month contract, hybrid working, 3 days a week

Salary: £600/day

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Finance Business Partner to join a local authority team in Sutton. In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic financial business partnering support to both the corporate core and front-line service areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a critical friend to the Council, delivering insightful analysis that informs strategic decision-making and enhances financial management practices.
Apply professional judgement to interpret and implement policies and procedures to meet specific local or service needs.
Provide day-to-day management and professional supervision to staff, ensuring the effective delivery of operational plans and activities.
Ensure that the Council's operations adhere to defined regulatory, statutory, and professional standards.
Lead small projects and implement changes and improvements within agreed cost, time, and quality standards.
Manage service-level budgets and resources to support the delivery of intended outcomes and demonstrate value for money.
Provide inspirational leadership to the finance team and actively participate in Council leadership networks.
Mentor and coach staff to support their professional development and contribute to the growth of talent within the Shared Finance Service.Requirements:

Completed a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIPFA, CIMA, MBA) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Experience working within a business partnering model and/or familiarity with its requirements.
Proven experience working alongside senior managers in a Senior Finance role.
Track record of working in a customer-focused finance team within a large and complex organisation.
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic finance advice and challenge to budget holders, managers, and finance colleagues.
Experience leading or providing financial support to change programs, business improvement initiatives, or corporate strategy development.
