Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer uses engineering tools and methods to support the production and engineering teams.  The successful candidate will be able to take input from a wide variety of teammates including production floor personnel, production leads, production managers, and design engineers and work with them to build tools, fixtures, and processes that improve the efficiency, quality, on time delivery, and safety of our unique high mix low volume production system.  They will be a good communicator that is able to understand the needs, objectives, and challenges of each production group.  This individual will be hands on.  In addition to design, they will enjoy spending time in the shop building tools, fixtures, and evaluating processes. 
Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with the production team and engineering department to design, develop, and improve tools, fixtures, processes, and systems for manufacturing the best possible product on time in a safe and efficient manner
Conduct studies to improve process and product by
Decreasing setup and cycle times
Developing inspection processes to ensure high quality product
Assume responsibility for all aspects of engineering for assigned tasks including
Design development and analysis
Prototyping and manufacturing
Testing and refining of the product
Proper documentation
Grow our expertise in automation by mechanizing or automating existing processes to improve the overall efficiency of our production system. There are currently several processes in our shops that could benefit from increased mechanization or automation.
Other tasks as assigned by the Production Manager
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
Strong technical base in 3D CAD and engineering fundamentals
Experience with fabrication, machining, and/or assembly
Experience with fixture and tool design/development is helpful but not required
SAP experience is helpful but not required
Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating with customers to identify and prioritize customer needs
Positive, cooperative attitude with a passion for improvement, quality work, and achieving deadlines
Typical work week is 40-45 hours
