Job Summary:As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for our organization. Your role will involve recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and producing financial reports. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
Recording Transactions: Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments, into the general ledger using accounting software.
Accounts Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable balances to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other adjusting entries as necessary to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Payroll Processing: Calculate and process employee payroll, including wages, taxes, and deductions. Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and timely remittance of payroll taxes.
Accounts Payable: Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and vendor communication. Verify vendor invoices, obtain necessary approvals, and ensure timely payments.
Accounts Receivable: Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing customers, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts. Maintain accurate records of customer transactions and collections.
Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Provide financial analysis and variance explanations as needed.
Budget Monitoring: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets by tracking actual expenses against budgeted amounts and providing financial reports to management.
Tax Compliance: Assist with tax preparation and compliance activities, including gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and liaising with external tax advisors or auditors.
Documentation and Filing: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, including supporting documentation such as invoices, receipts, and contracts. Ensure compliance with record retention policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Relevant coursework or certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or related financial role. Experience with full-cycle accounting processes is preferred.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Peachtree. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, reconciliation, and financial analysis.
Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and propose solutions.
Integrity: High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
