Job Summary:As a Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of our organization. Working under the supervision of the Accounting Manager or Controller, you will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial analysis, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. This position requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by preparing and posting journal entries for various transactions, including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany transactions.
Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Prepare supporting schedules and variance analyses as needed.
Month-End Close: Participate in the month-end close process by preparing and reviewing financial reports, analyzing account balances, and identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and maintenance of annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted amounts and provide explanations for variances.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, including trend analysis, cost analysis, and variance analysis, to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
Audit Support: Assist with external audits by providing supporting documentation, answering inquiries, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements and deadlines.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and implement necessary updates to accounting policies and procedures.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting processes and systems. Participate in projects to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and strengthen internal controls.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or progress toward CPA certification is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably with exposure to general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools is a plus.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis, data entry, and reporting.
