Our client a major manufacturer of metal stampings and welded sub-assemblies is currently seeking a Weld Engineer to join their team. As a Manufacturing Welding Engineer, you will perform a variety of repetitive processes using varied machines and/or hand tools to complete the assembly and /or sub-assembly of component parts.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
* Executing manufacturing process improvements that result in meeting customer expectations (internal and external), project objectives, and comply with our QMS.
* Leading and mentoring others to ensure effective decision-making regarding process challenges to meet daily production schedules and long-term improvement goals.
* Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment in assembly of metals, utilizing AWS and/or customer production specifications, material properties and characteristics of metals, and engineering principles.
* Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new assembly processes and procedures; improve existing or develop new welding equipment; develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures; discover new patterns of welding phenomena; or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses.
* Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel.
* Determine the training requirements for production welders.
* Establish certification & recertification processes for production welders.
* Develop and document welding process parameters and setup instructions.
* Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.
REQUIREMENTS:
* 2 Year technical Associate degree, minimum - 4 Year Engineering degree, preferred.
* 10 Years in a Manufacturing Environment, if 2-year degree.
* 5 Years in a Manufacturing Environment, if 4-year degree.
* Certified Weld Engineer per AWS B5.16:2006, preferred.
* Must read, write, and speak English.
* Experience with Microsoft Office products.
* Strong interpersonal skills as well as attention to detail.

* Secondary Metal Processing Operations (e.g. welding, heat treating, plating, painting, fabrication, & assembly)
* Drawings: Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and Weld Symbols
* Inspection Techniques and Instrumentation
* Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Project)
* SolidWorks, CREO, or equivalent CAD Software experience
* MIG & TIG Welding and Brazing
* Welding Science (physics, electricity, heat transfer, & chemistry) and Safety
* Advanced Metallurgy
* Destructive and Nondestructive testing
