Senior Purchaser/Buyer - Havant (Hybrid) - £40,000 to £45,000 Per Annum DOE

We are on the hunt for a Senior Buyer/Purchaser to join a growing team of purchasers supporting a major player within the maritime engineering sector to deliver on a variety of projects across the business.

Within the position you will facilitate discussions between internal and external stakeholders to ensure the quality of supply and on-schedule delivery of product in line with the output plan. You will also work to identify and drive improvements and contribute to solid relationships with suppliers.

Within this role you'll be responsible for:

Both direct and indirect purchasing
Management of issues ensuring escalation where necessary
Supporting the Supply Chain Manager in meeting the supply chain KPIs and initiatives
Ensuring all requests for purchase are actioned in a timely manner and the department delivers the required service to all internal customers
Negotiating and placing Purchase Orders, ensuring reporting and delivery promises are maintained by vendors with information communicated to the purchaser and other stakeholders
Management of relationships with existing suppliers
Work with the Supply Chain Manager to consolidate and leverage direct and indirect spend
Negotiation and management of Strategic Supply Agreements (SSAs) with key suppliers, to provide commercial benefit to the broader business
Reviewing and negotiating payment terms
Managing supplier performance to ensure output is in line with SLAs and KPIs
Proactively manage the performance and development of the skills and knowledge of the Purchasing Team
Requirements of the role:

Previous experience of working within a purchasing environment, including being able to demonstrate the use of best practice, together with previous SAP MRP experience
Strong Communication and Negotiation skills with demonstrable examples
Proven leadership, decision making, and organisational skills are a must, along with the ability to interrogate data to identify problems and action improvement plans
Significant procurement experience gained within Manufacturing and/or Engineering environments
Ideally CIPS qualified or part qualified
