Job title: Progress & Goods In Manager

Reporting to: Head of QHSE

Location: Wakefield

Salary: £38k - £42k dependent on experience.

Purpose of the Role:

The role will assume full responsibility for the management of all Goods In and Goods Out processes to customers and sub-contractors, and for the kitting and delivery of issuing of parts to the Assembly team. The role will also be responsible for maximising assembly floor space utilisation, general health, safety
and environmental standards on the shop floor and in the yard areas.

Key Responsibilities

- Supporting the day to day management of the system build activities, by ensuring the required parts are available for each project according to the build schedule.

- Utilise the Work Tracking system to identify available kitted parts to support the build programmes.

- Ensure all resource planning is in line with the build strategy, staff capability and customer expectations

-To work closely with Project Managers, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Design to ensure any potential component part issues are identified and actioned accordingly

- To liaise with Mechanical fitters daily to progress and chase outstanding parts required for the build.

- Ensure incoming goods from all sources are booked in within 24hrs and distributed according to the requirements e.g. to Inspection, machine shop, to a kit etc.

- Ensure work in progress is despatched and returned on time e.g. to and from metal finishers

- Ensure any NCR’d parts are dealt with and are repaired, replaced and expedited in a timely fashion.

- Plan and ensure efficient utilisation of build space maximising the layout of the assembly floor

- Identify and implement continuous process improvements to optimise build efficiencies.

- Responsible for all stores activities including Goods in / out and parts kitting.

- Manage staff development, welfare and rewards including annual objectives, appraisals, training needs and mentoring

Key Skills & Experience:

- Previous experience in an engineering build environment essential.

- Experience working with engineering and project management departments

- Experience of managing teams

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to communicate at all levels and across a number of teams – includes customers, suppliers and employees

-The ability to work well under pressure whilst operating within an agile environment

- The desire to deliver a high level of customer service and quality

- Strong IT, analytical skills and report writing

Qualifications:

- Minimum HNC qualified in relevant production discipline
