Environmental Officer

Job Description
Oversee and complete environmental sampling and compliance activities for all active and inactive facilities at the OceanaGold’s Haile Complex.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Support safety action plans and processes to meet company safety objectives
Adhere to permitting conditions and provide assistance to mine operations to insure compliance with regulatory requirements
Acquire and develop necessary background and environmental monitoring and sampling data
Monitoring of appropriate mining and reclamation plans
Monitoring of environmental controls for mine operations
Coordinate with State and Federal agencies on mining operations and reclamation
Provide oversight of consultants and contractors directing daily work toward project completion
Assist in coordination of environmental audits
Escort State and Federal Environmental Inspectors during site inspections
Prepare and track environmental reporting requirements
Play an active role in philanthropic environmental programs in nearby communities.
All other duties as reasonably assigned.
