Technical Support Engineer
Full, time permanent position based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Working hours - Monday to Friday: 8.30am - 5pm
Salary - Up to £37,000 per annum
We're currently recruiting a Technical Support Engineer for a Global Automatic Door and Entrance Systems company based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
If you have excellent customer service skills, knowledge of mechanical engineering and the ability to understand and explain engineering principles to others, this position is a great opportunity for you.
Candidates with a Mechanical Engineering background from either the Door Industry or FM Industry will have an advantage
The role and your duties:
The main purpose of this role will be to offer customer and product support to clients in the construction and associated industries. Based in our client's Hitchin Headquarters, technical support engineers ensure that customers always get the right part for the right application, and make sure that customers have all the information that they need to get the best out of products.
As a Technical Support Engineer, you will work closely with internal and external customers to provide technical support on door hardware products to customers throughout UK & ROI. Primarily the role involves dealing with client queries within our hardware product range to ensure technical suitability for the client’s requirements.
Clients can range from those who can give a detailed specification of exactly what they need, to a customer who needs guidance to find the right product for their requirements, to helping with internal queries from internal teams.
The right person will be able to engage their knowledge of mechanical engineering to assist all clients, be happy to take time to investigate detailed technical requirements, and to ensure that they get the most suitable product for their needs.
Lastly you will also be engaged in internal product training for our staff and, on occasion, external training of our clients, so we need someone who is confident and happy to keep developing their knowledge as new products come out.
Over time you will become a trusted expert in the hardware product range and be able to advise customers and recommend the best product for the job required.
The successful candidate will have the following key skills/experience:
* As this is a technical role, we are looking for candidates who have a background in mechanical engineering at any level, and a confident manner, who can communicate effectively in person, via email and phone.
* You will have excellent time management skills and have worked on several enquiries at one time, whilst also providing support, to either internal or external customers.
* We also need a proven ability to learn, so part of this role will be to grow and develop your knowledge and experience of our product range, its functionality and technical capabilities.
* Lastly, Good understanding of MS office products with a good understanding of Excel functionality (VLookups, formulas etc)
* Candidates with SAP and CAD skills are especially of interest but training can be given in these elements
