Quality Manager

Location: 30B Optimus Way, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8JR

Shift Pattern: 5/7, 40 hours per week

The Role

We require a Quality Manager to monitor processes and products against site procedures through auditing and supporting interdepartmental teams with the purpose of maintaining the company’s due diligence defence and ensure food safety, product integrity and quality of all products in line with legal compliance and 3rd party standards.

The main responsibilities include:

* To create literature for production including Procedures, SOP’s and paperwork which will accurately reflect traceability of product throughout the factory and the controls in place to ensure Food Safety, product integrity and Quality parameters.

* To create and implement an auditing schedule for site GMPs, Fabrication and Glass and Hard Plastics audits to support the QMS.

* To be the HACCP Lead, supporting the business with its due diligence defense and leading on resolution for process, ingredient and legislative change, which may influence the need for review of the HACCP plan.

* To be a subject matter expert for CCP controls on site and producing documentation, including training materials that will support operations to deliver the required controls and responsibilities.

* To schedule and confirm all legal compliance checks including weights, temperature verification and equipment such as temperature probes are conducted and rectify any OOS situations.

* To be the subject matter expert for weight controls to ensure compliance with the Weights and Measure Act 1985, conducting validations and verification of all processes.

* To aid in the commissioning of new equipment.

* To effectively manage the QA team members to ensure all tasks required by the business are delivered and conduct annual performance reviews for each team member.

* To identify areas of training for the QA team including ones own professional development in (but not limited too), Food Safety, Product integrity, Food Defense, Site Security, 3rd Party standards and customer requirements.

* To lead on investigations on OOS results received from the routine microbiological and chemical testing schedules to identify cause and implement corrective actions, with guidance from the technical manager, to ensure no repeat incidents.

* To lead on, with the assistance of the Technical Manager, all investigations following a customer complaint which require cause identification and corrective actions implemented.

* To ensure all products are reviewed and data collated by the QA teams which feed into the Technical KPI systems i.e. PQS completions.

* To support NPD with product development by being the expert in technical process to ensure parameters required can be achieved.

* To have an active input into the Internal Auditing Systems in place to ensure compliance with Environmental Health, Trading standards, Customer, and 3rd party Audit requirements.

* To lead on all traceability exercises conducted as either a live or mock recall and exercises as required by 3rd party auditors.

About You

What we’re looking for:

* HACCP Level 4

* Food Hygiene Level 3

* A good level of knowledge of a Quality Auditing function (3 year’s working experience in food industry)

* BRCGS certification (or equivalent) in Internal Auditing, Risk Assessment, Verification and Validation as a minimum.

* A minimum of 3 years retailer standard requirements experience.

* Strong knowledge of excel and word systems.

* Leads by example – e.g. behaviours, attitude etc – good personal skills

* Flexible

* Experience within a manufacturing environment, although bakery is preferred it is not essential as full training will be given.

* Good communication skills, both verbal and written

* Task orientated.

* Decision making skills
