NES Fircroft are working on behalf of a global power technology business sourcing a Site Manager to join their HVDC project in Norwich. With a presence in over 90 countries. The Site Manager is responsible for the successful execution of all activities on the assigned construction site, on-time, within budget, as per Contractual Scope and requirements, maintaining the highest standard of quality of the works, ensuring an incident free construction site and complete adherence by all personnel to the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) plans and regulations.
This role has been assessed as INSIDE IR35 (PAYE or Umbrella only)
Roles and Responsibilities
The Site Manager shall have the ability to work with projects of/with
Medium Size converter stations
Medium complexity - Technical, Geographical and Commercial
Medium exposure to the business and the Customers
Execution parameters that require drive, resilience, decision, focus and resourcefulness
Sites at remote locations or under slightly difficult conditions
Communication and Interface Management
Serves, on the construction site, as the main interface to the customer (and partners, where applicable) on all contractual matters. The responsibilities of the Site Manager are limited within the Scope of Works on a site.
Ensures that all personnel on site are well informed about the Scope of Work (SoW) and Division of Work (DoW).
Maintains a good relationship with local authorities and organizations. Ensures that all permits, licenses, and requirements are in place for a compliant execution of the site activities.
Receives the site area/location from the Customer based on the site hand over report and hands over the plant to end customer at completion.
Provides regular reports on the progress of the site activities to Project Management, Construction and Commissioning department, Customers and other stakeholders as required and defined.
Ensures that contractual obligations are met and to the satisfaction of our Customers
In Consortium projects, ensures a close and professional collaboration with our construction partner(s).
Provides support to the activities of the partner, within the context of the Consortium agreement, but also looking towards a successful execution of the activities by the Consortium, for the Customer.
Oversees that Partners fulfills their obligations and maintain the standards of safety, quality, performance, and professionalism as expected and outlined in the Consortium agreement.
Identifies any risks or deviations in the activities performed by the Partners and works out with the Project Management in addressing them in a proper way.Subcontractor Management
Has overall authority over subcontractors on-site, under the Scope of Works assigned
Reads and fully understand the subcontracts, the terms and conditions and the obligations of the subcontractors in the project.
Oversees, drives, and manages, with his site team, the performance of the subcontractors and their adherence to the contractual obligations.
Sets regular meetings, as may be required, to interact with the subcontractors, assess the works performed, the works to be carried out in the next short-term period and plan the next weeks and months lookahead of the activities.
Ensures that all subcontractors and their personnel are aware of the Health, Safety and Environment plan for the site and that their behavior on site is in accordance and excels in regards to the expectations of HSE and the plan.
Ensures that the subcontractors conduct Risk Assessments and develop Method Statements for all applicable Works.
Ensures that Subcontractors follow a proper Lock Out/Tag Out and Permit to Work system on-site
Notifies subcontractors of deviations on their activities and follows the subcontract clauses on claims and deviations.
Manages the Change Management system for the subcontracts, based on the defined terms and conditions in the subcontracts, including but not limited to variation orders, site instructions and related.
Request regular reports from Subcontractors incorporating the necessary information to assess the status of the activities, the progress, the performance of their workforce and their adherence to the contractual obligations.Skills and Experience 

Minimum three years’ experience as Site Manager, on construction projects with a medium level of complexity. Able to showcase successes, failures and the lessons learnt.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent.
Experience with HVDC Converter Stations is a plus
Demonstrable understanding of Terms and Conditions typical used on Construction type Contracts
Willingness to relocate worldwide for the duration of the project wherever the construction site is located
Experience in Civil Works, Installation and/or Commissioning activities
Recognized Health, Environment and Safety certifications and training. IOSH or NEBOSH preferred.
Undergoes the Site Management certification process for the role.
Driven, structured, able to work and lead teams, goal oriented, eager to learn from experiences and adapt as may be required, able to easily gain and maintain trust and respect from employees and peers, able to work under stress conditions.
Able to adapt the discourse to address the audience, to either blue collar workers or Senior Management and Customers.
Good English language – written and spoken.
