Purchasing Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Purchasing Specialist to join our engineering company. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing our procurement processes, including Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), administrative tasks, planning, and collaborating with the supply chain team to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Materials Requirement Planning (MRP):

Utilize MRP systems to plan and schedule the procurement of materials required for production.

Ensure accurate and timely input of data into the MRP system.

Monitor inventory levels and adjust MRP parameters to optimize stock levels and minimize costs.

Administrative Tasks:

Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Maintain accurate records of supplier contracts, purchase orders, and other relevant documentation.

Assist in the preparation of procurement reports and performance metrics.

Planning:

Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to forecast material needs based on project timelines and production schedules.

Develop and implement procurement plans that align with production goals and project requirements.

Identify potential supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.

Supply Chain Collaboration:

Work closely with suppliers to negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to ensure the best value for the company.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and ensure reliable supply.

Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely receipt and inspection of materials.

Cost Management:

Conduct cost analysis and market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies.

Monitor and analyze procurement expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.

Implement cost reduction initiatives and process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency.

Compliance and Risk Management:

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to procurement.

Identify and address potential risks in the supply chain, including supplier performance and quality issues.

Conduct supplier evaluations and audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and contractual obligations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of MRP systems and inventory management principles.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.

Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, CPM) is a plus.
