Elementa are supporting this PRU to appoint an experienced PRU teacher to work with secondary aged children, ages 10-16. The role will involve working with small groups of students, delivering their education and supporting them through issues they face in their personal lives. This is a well run PRU with long-serving staff that offer stability and vital support for the learners. This is a short-term role to cover teacher absence due to sickness.

The particular group of students are primary-aged. If you are a (general) PRU Teacher, or a teacher with previous experience of working with children that display challenging behaviours then we'd love to hear from you.

Essential criteria:

previous experience of working with young people that display challenging behaviour
experience in leading education for groups of children
available full time for the full contract dates

The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified PRU teacher with UK QTS. The school are however open to considering someone with significant experience in leading/delivering education provided you also have the ability to confidently deliver cookery as part of the role.

Naturally, working at a specialist setting for SEMH will involve working with the more challenging learners so resilience, a sense of humour, empathy and the desire to motivate learners whatever their background or ability will be key to being successful in this role.

As a person, the right applicant will be:

experienced at working with learners that frequently display challenging behaviour
resilient, positive natured and maintain composure when working in challenging situations
be committed, empathetic and passionate about providing the best opportunity for the learners
have a strong work ethic with a professional approach

Elementa will be managing all applicants and screening their suitability for the school. Elementa are not a supply agency, we are a school services & recruiting partner to schools. We will manage the candidate vetting & compliance and process your payroll on behalf of the school. Therefore applicants being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for Elementa. This includes full vetting & background checks and application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure (which may be chargeable @ £53.20) unless you have a current DBS on the update service.

If you have the relevant skills and experience necessary for this role then please apply with your full up to date CV. All applicants will be promptly responded to.

Candidates not currently based in the UK, without UK schools experience or requiring employer sponsorship for their Right To Work in the UK cannot be considered for this role.

ELEMENTA CANDIDATE COMMITMENT:

Weekly pay – no waiting for monthly payroll cut off dates, Elementa pays one week in lieu.
